Diabetes Symptoms – Natural Remedies for Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes Symptoms

diabetes symptomsFor someone with diabetes symptoms of type 2 diabetes, life is not a roller coaster ride. The changed lifestyle and the number of medications involved are enough to make someone trying to control mood swings sickly enough to make the blood pressures raise. No one knows the exact cause of diabetes except for the fact that it is a combination of genetic factors and environmental conditions, and the search for a cure is still on.

Natural cure and diabetes symptoms

Along with laboratory research, researches on diabetes symptoms are also being carried out in the field of natural sciences to find a natural cure against diabetes. The known fact is that type 2 diabetes symptoms are related obesity particularly the fat accumulated around the belly. Fats from other parts of the body are found to reduce insulin resistance and improve insulin resistance.

After long and continuous research on diabetes symptoms and how to fight the disease, researchers have found that there are natural remedies that can curb the disease. Fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, nuts and seeds, which are rich, in fiber help to stabilize blood sugar levels, and as said earlier obesity needs to be curbed with exercise and weight training for type 2 diabetes patients.
Ginseng and Cinnamon
North American Ginseng has shown to help in reducing diabetes symptoms as it improve blood sugar levels and glycosylated haemoglobin levels, but more research is being carried out as the long-term effects of ginseng is still not known. As part of natural remedy ½ or ¼ spoon of cinnamon is to be taken with a glass of warm water and cocoa. This keeps the blood sugar levels in control also helps in weight loss and reduction of diabetes symptoms.

Chromium and Magnesium
Minerals like Chromium and Magnesium plays a crucial role in fat and carbohydrate metabolism and regulating blood sugar levels respectively, which in turn impact diabetes symptoms. Many promising studies have shown that chromium supplements may reduce the amount of insulin as well as the blood sugar level required by people suffering from diabetes symptoms. Yet more research is being carried out to ascertain the facts. As in regards to magnesium, studies have shown that low-magnesium levels may intensify blood glucose level in type 2 diabetes symptoms which is reason enough as to why it may help in insulin resistance. However, high doses have adverse, side effects like diarrhea, blood loss, low-blood pressure, irregular heart rate, confusion, difficulty in breathing and muscle weakness.
Zinc
Another mineral, Zinc, play a vital role in the treatment of diabetes symptoms because of its production and storage of insulin. Zinc is available in food sources like ginger roots, fresh oysters, pecans, lamb, split peas, rye, egg yolk, beef liver, lima beans, sardines, walnuts, buckwheat, and chicken.

Aloe Vera and diabetes symptoms

Last but not the least, Aloe Vera usually known as a home remedy for small cuts or minor burns and other skin related problems has also been recommended as help for type 2 diabetics. A number of active phytosterol compounds were isolated from the Aloe Vera gel in a particular research in Japan which was found to reduce blood glucose and glycosylated haemoglobin levels, and diabetes symptoms in humans.

In spite of all these natural remedies suggested for the management of diabetes symptoms, it should be kept in mind though before going for any natural remedy, to inform our doctor as some herbs or medications might interact with the medications taken and cause hyper glycemia and aggravate diabetes symptoms.

Diabetes Symptoms – Can one sugary drink a day increase the diabetes risk?

Diabetes Symptoms

diabetes symptomsMany of us believe that drinking a single soda or energy drink a day causes no harm but it is agreeable to the body. Rather, after all those diet-controls, regular exercise and health-conscious lifestyle habits, one sugary drink a day is perfectly harmless, is what we think. However, like many of the unwise notions which the modern generation has about health and diabetes symptoms, this concept too, is an utterly wrong one.

According to studies and researches held by the health journal ‘Diabetes Care’, people who regularly consume sugary beverages even in small amounts are more likely to manifest diabetes symptoms. So, it certainly is true that even one sugary drink in a day can shoot up the risk of diabetes.

What are the risk factors of diabetes symptoms?

As mentioned above, the studies held by the ‘Diabetes Care’ journal reveal that sugary drinks cause high probability of diabetes. Though all kinds of drinks including soda, carbonated beverages, energy drinks, sweetened tea and coffee, alcoholic drinks and other sugary beverages are risk factors of acquiring diabetes, high fructose corn syrup sweetened soda and refined sugar-rich energy drinks are the most dangerous drinks which pave the way for diabetes symptoms.

Coming to the statistics, in a person who consumes at least one sugary drink daily, the probability to acquire Type 2 diabetes is greater by almost twenty five percent, when compared to others who consume just one sugary drink per month.

Further, in such one-a-day drinkers, the diabetes symptoms like metabolic syndrome and high-triglyceride levels start appearing at a rate higher by twenty percent. Metabolic syndrome is not merely one of the symptoms of diabetes. Rather, it is a collection of several indicators, which depict the onset of Type 2 diabetes along with other ailments like heart diseases, strokes, kidney failure and liver diseases.

Nutrition and diabetes symptoms

Nutritionists and dieticians strongly advocate the need to substitute modern day energy drinks and beverages with traditional medicinal drinks to fight problems related to obesity and diabetes symptoms. Sweetened beverages are shortcuts to gaining weight and becoming obese. To avoid obesity, and subsequently diabetes, giving up sugared beverages is inevitable.

Studies and researches held by various organizations worldwide reveal that regular consumption of sugared beverages, at least one a day, is responsible in numerable diabetes symptoms cases. If not diabetes, such regular intake of sugared beverages certainly causes other ailments like heart diseases and kidney problems, which are, in fact, symptoms of diabetes.
Sweetened beverages generate extreme spikes in the human body’s blood sugar levels. As a result of such variations in the blood sugar levels, insulin resistance is caused. Later, this insulin resistance creates inflammation and hypertension which result as diabetes.

Prevent diabetes by avoiding sugar

Diabetes is the outcome of a person’s long negligence towards sugar control. Artificial sweeteners and refined sugars are responsible for a variety of diseases and dangerous conditions like obesity and diabetes. Hence, to prevent you from getting into the hands of diabetes and to maintain health and fitness, it is utmost essential to stay away from sugared drinks and foods.

To prevent obesity and diabetes symptoms it is highly advisable to replace refined sugars in beverages with natural sweeteners like whole-leaf stevia or sweet leaf which is much better in terms of zero calories and zero sugar as compared to refined form of sugar.

So to make your life sweeter, replace the artificially-sweetened drinks to natural, healthy drinks.

Diabetes Symptoms

diabetes symptomsOne of the natural plants that to cure diabetes symptoms is Cinnamon. It is one of the oldest known spices is commonly grown in India, Sri Lanka, Brazil, Vietnam and Egypt. Cinnamon is found in four varieties, but the two most popular types are Ceylon Cinnamon and Cassia Cinnamon. Cassia Cinnamon, which has a darker cover and harder quills, is the less expensive variety and is sold in supermarkets in “North America”. Whereas Ceylon Cinnamon also called true cinnamon, has a softer quill, which can be, easily ground in a coffee maker also has a sweeter taste, is generally sold in specialty stores and used for various medical purposes.

Cinnamon and diabetes symptoms

Besides using this spice for cooking, cinnamon is known for its medical uses over the last 5000 years, recognized by Egyptians, Ancient Rome and Ayurveda in Ceylon. However, it must be ensured that it is Ceylon cinnamon, which is used, and not Cassia cinnamon. Cinnamon has been known to lower the cholesterol levels, have regulatory effect on blood sugar levels, has an anti- clotting effect on the blood. It stops the growth of bacteria and fungi also when combined with calcium removes bile which prevents damage to colon in turn preventing colon cancer. Cinnamon has also been proven to control diabetes symptoms in many patients.

Elements present in Cinnamon such as chromium, calcium, copper, iron, iodine, manganese, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, and vitamins A, B1, B2, and C play a crucial role in the treatment of patients with symptoms of diabetes or diabetics. The first human studies, published in 2003 in the journal “Diabetes care” explained research done on 60 people with type 2 diabetes symptoms. The patients were given 1,3 or 6 grams of cinnamon pills daily, and after 30 days, it was observed that all three amounts reduced fasting blood glucose by 18- 20 per cent, triglycerides by 23-30 per cent, LDL cholesterol by 7- 27 per cent and total cholesterol by 12- 26 per cent. This study clearly connected cinnamon to diabetes symptoms because once the doses were stopped blood sugar levels started to rise again.

Cinnamon, insulin and diabetes symptoms

Cinnamon has been found to contain elements which activate the essential enzymes in the body which stimulate cell receptors in turn making the cells reactive towards insulin. This response of the cells to insulin helps to process glucose in the blood also to remove whatever is excess and deactivate enzymes, which are responsible, for deactivating insulin receptors. If seen, cinnamon is clearly one of the most cost effective and healthy way to control diabetes symptoms today.

Cinnamon can be used in our food and beverages in small amounts every day for diabetic patients. About a ½ to ¼ teaspoon can be added to tea or warm water with cocoa which contain high polyphenol and is beneficial for controlling diabetes symptoms. Cinnamon also helps in reducing overall body fat percentage and leads to an increase in lean muscle mass. And even though the best way to keep diabetes symptoms in control is to maintain a healthy body weight, eat healthy food low on sugar a little bit of cinnamon added to this healthy lifestyle would surely not hurt.

Diabetes Symptoms – Breast Feeding Reduces the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes in Women

     Diabetes Symptoms

diabetes symptoms“Diabetes” also known as the silent killer is caused when our body is not able to produce enough insulin or because our body cells fail to react to the insulin produced by our body. Some common diabetes symptoms that prevail are frequent urination, increased thirst and intake of water, extreme hunger, itching, body ache and depression. However, diabetes as such do not have any definite symptoms except for the feeling of weakness and fatigue, and also the presence of high-sugar levels found in routine blood or urine samples.

Schwarz study and diabetes symptoms

In between 2003- 2008, a study was carried out by Dr. Eleanor Bimla Schwarz of the University Of Pittsburgh, Department Of Medicine, for mothers who had been suffering from gestational diabetes during pregnancy. The basis of her research underlies the relationship between breastfeeding and Diabetes. That means it was meant to show how diabetes can be cured through breastfeeding for mothers who had been suffering from gestational diabetes during pregnancy.

Gestational diabetes occurs during some pregnancies, and the chances are higher if the mother is more than 25 years of age or is overweight before pregnancy. Diabetes symptoms in this case are extremely mild and not threatening to the pregnant woman. According to researchers breastfeeding helps in melting the post- pregnancy fats. As per the study women who had breastfed their babies for less than six months had the disease in comparison to women who had breastfed their children for six months and more.

The study evaluated 2,200 women of which 405 were not mothers, 700 were mothers who had never breastfeed and 1125 were mothers who breastfeed for at least a month. On evaluation, it was found that women breastfeeding their children for a month had the same risk as of developing diabetes symptoms as that for women who never gave birth. Whereas the women who never breastfed their children had twice the risk of getting the diagnosis as that of women who never gave birth. Also, it was seen that mothers who never breastfed had about 1.3 times less risk to develop diabetes as compared to women breastfeeding their children for one or three months, found by Dr. Schwarz.

Diabetes symptoms findings

Further into the research Schwarz found the following result amongst the three groups of women who developed Diabetes. Studies revealed that 17.4% of the women who had not given birth were affected, 16.8% of the women who had breastfed their children for longer than a month had developed diabetes symptoms and 20.3% of those who breastfed but not to all children for around a month or longer also developed the disease.

During the research Dr, Schwarz mentioned that overweight and obesity were common in the participants and that even after having controlling all the factors it did not make much difference as one month of breast feeding did. Dr Schwarz did mention that the longer the procedure of breast feeding was carried out longer it would be better. The real problem for mothers after giving birth is the belly fat that accumulates around the belly. That is what gives rise to diabetes in mothers who do not breast feed at all.

For any type 1 patient, it is advisable to carry around insulin shots also to teach family members how to use it in case of an emergency. It would also be an acceptable practice to attend Self- Management Diabetes Education classes to know how to fight the diabetes symptoms?

Lastly, advice of the Diabetic management, whatever medicine has been prescribed by the doctor should be taken regularly and timely. A diabetic is his/her own life saver and though being diabetic at an elderly age is not a happy task, but life will be on the lighter side with these advices taken.

Diabetes Symptoms – Prevent Type 2 diabetes when diagnosed with gestational diabetes

Diabetes Symptoms

diabetes symptomsDiabetes is a chronic disease which can seriously degrade the quality of life of a human being. Diabetes, often called a ‘lifestyle disease’ is certainly a product of unhealthy-food habits, unsystematic lifestyles and abnormal body weights.

The most critical state of diabetes is Type 2 diabetes, when the body fails effectively to utilize the insulin produced by pancreas. This type of diabetes is dangerous in the sense that it is diagnosed only after years of its onset, primarily because it exhibits almost nil diabetes symptoms.

The condition of Hyperglycemia, or raised blood sugar levels, when detected in pregnant women, is known as gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes, which manifests similar symptoms as type 2 diabetes, is an onset of Type 2 diabetes. In simple terms, gestational diabetes in pregnant women indicates a much greater future risk for the occurrence of Type 2 diabetes.

Prevent gestational diabetes from becoming type 2 diabetes

Holistic medicines approve the fact that gestational diabetes is an onset of Type 2 diabetes. The fact that diabetes is a highly preventable disease seems to be less known. Most diabetes patients, during pregnancy also do not realize that the abnormalities in their body are, in fact, diabetes symptoms.

 Body Awareness and diabetes symptoms

When the body tells you that it is overburdened or undernourished, you need to pay attention to your diets and lifestyles as well, which; unfortunately, most diabetes patients fail to achieve. During pregnancy, this trend can cause many undesirable effects and serious diseases like gestational diabetes. Hence, it becomes extremely essential to focus on prevention.

Prevention is certainly better than cure, when it comes to diabetes. Considering the costs of health care and medication today, you can’t identify diabetes symptoms or treat diabetes effectively if you are not financially stable. On the other hand, prevention of diabetes will cost you nothing. Rather, preventing diabetes symptoms will ensure that your life is pleasurable and enjoyable.

Steps to prevent the future risks of diabetes symptoms:

The basic cause behind all diabetic issues is unhealthy-food habits. Diets consisting of low glycemic index foods possess the ability to prevent insulin resistance syndrome, which is a precursor to Type 2 diabetes.

Further, foods containing high amounts of sugar should be entirely avoided, say medical researchers.

While limiting sugar consumption, it is also essential to limit the consumption of grains. Exercise also plays a vital role in prevention of Type 2 diabetes symptoms.

Ensuring that the body has quite a considerable amount of Vitamin D and that your daily diets are rich in whole natural foods and oils rich in omega 3 will help a vast deal in preventing type 2 diabetes, during pregnancy.

Such healthy diet will naturally be followed by low blood sugar levels. And consequently, the chances for you to acquire Type 2 diabetes symptoms during pregnancy will lessen.

A woman’s well-being during pregnancy is not complete unless she is free of all traces of gestational diabetes. Hence, during pregnancy, which is the most momentous period in a woman’s life, it is utmost essential to give high priority to healthy diets and lifestyles.
